KVM and Ubuntu Guest - cursor synchronisation

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Dear All

Recently I been experiencing a rather strange behaviour with Ubuntu
Guests from KVM, the pointer (cursor) gets grabbed but only works in a
portion of the screen and when the pointer is released it becomes
invisible on KVM from the host.

I have been experiencing this for a while and was under the impression
that it was only on my laptop, installed a clean F28 and I am
experiencing the same behaviour. On any Ubuntu guest or variant, e.g.
Kali Linux when I click in the KVM guest the pointer is grabbed;
however, if I move the pointer it sort of releases it without me
pressing "ctrl+alt," basically if I move the cursor and select another
application and the cursor will remain at that position almost like the
cursor from the host is not synchronised with the guest cursor.

Another thing is after the cursor goes rogue, it be no longer visible
by any other KVM guest, CentOS, FreeBSD, Windows etc. and the only way
that I have been able to get the cursor back is the butcher KVM using
kill -9 and reopen it.

Do I need any sort of driver for Ubuntu guest of the KVM host (Fedora)
to resolve this issue.
