Writes to USB devices failed. I was using Thunar and it ignored all
delete clicks and drag to copy activities to the USB device. I did not
investigate further. Just booted out of the problem to get the USB
drive so people could get on their way.
Not so useful, other than a heads up for others if they encounter
strangeness.
