I just use > old latex+dvips+ps2pdf to create documents. Invoking it is not the problem (just say 'xelatex yourtexfile.tex'). But I'd be surprised if this solved your problem. First, xelatex is not exactly tex, so you'll probably have to change a few things at least in the preamble of your document. Second, you need a font with the soccerball character in it. If I had this problem, I'd use google.
