How to run java applets with firefox 57 on fedora 27?

IcedTeaPlugin.so has disappeared and even if you install Icedtea from
f26, applets are not running!

I just ran into this with SeaMonkey.  I updated last night and even though SeaMonkey still supports the Java plugin, the plugin .so file is gone now leaving a dangling symlink.  For now I'll have to find an older version that still has it.

I just remembered, I had installed the version from F26 that still has the .so file, so I did that again and it works. But for your case, no, any Firefox from 52 doesn't support it. The latest Firefox that will work is 52ESR and that will be discontinued at the end of this year.
