Anyway, all I see is a live image for F26 Xfce. Does the Netinstall
give you the options for which desktop? Or doing an install to a
clean drive work off the live ISO?

I want complete control over how the partitions are set up.
If it's a new drive, use the tools from your existing Fedora to set up
the partitions and format them. Then you can just select them during
the install, from the custom configuration spoke, instead of having to
configure them from the install tools.

Is ext4 still used for the partitions or is something newer and better used? I am going to have to take a look to see what to do. I am installing on a 500GB SSD drive.

Maybe it's changed, but I think a net install is more flexible than
installing from a live image. During a net install, the repositories
are available to you if you are network connected, and you can select
packages. The live image installs only the live image.

That was my experience with F24. The netinstall got me Xfce. Well not really. It got me Cinnamon. There was a bug in the Xfce install back then. I had to add Xfce and select it on log in.

But I don't remember if I used a supposedly Xfce netinstall or the base install allowed me to try and select Xfce.

thanks
