F25 here running smplayer Version 17.5.0 (revision 8554) acquired from
the rpmfusion-free-updates repo. Using the xv Video output driver. And
no additional options specified fro MPlayer in the advanced section of
smplayer
Works fine with the mplayer 1.3.0-6.3.1 installed also from
rpmfusion-free-updates.
Suggest you try starting smplayer from the command line to see if you
get errors.
