It is a good thing you make no guarantees.

Looking at my script for the ethernet connection I see this....

DOMAIN=greshko.com

I then used the NetworkManager GUI to add in ibm.com and now see this...

DOMAIN="ibm.com greshko.com"

And after restarting the link /etc/resolv.conf  contains...

# Generated by NetworkManager
search ibm.com greshko.com
nameserver 127.0.0.1
