Give an example from your hosts file.

What isn't working (are you hosting a webserver, trying SSH, something
else)?

Does your computer actually have a different IP than the one you think
it has?

Are you using bonjour/zeroconf?

Are you trying to use a .local domain name without using
bonjour/zeroconf?

Is your IP range compatible with it?

Do you have a DHCP server?
