I remember a Windows 10 update that broke all updates as well.
If you happened to apply updates before the busted package
was withdrawn, you wound up with the Windows 10 box that
couldn't update at all. I remember having to follow all kinds
of arcane fix updates procedures to get updates going again
after that one.

Something seems to have broken the microsoft edge browser
as well. Since it is only broken in my KVM, I suspect the
video driver is involved (but can't prove it). Navigating to
the microsoft "download windows" web page always makes edge
go "blip" and disappear. (IE has no problem).
