I get that, but lots of other stuff as well (powertop-2.8-2.fc24.x86_64
on an F25 system):

Then it goes into a "top"-like display. After exiting, both the
saved_parameters.powertop and saved_results.powertop mtime stamps get
updated (although the saved_parameters.powertop file remains empty).

Try running with "--debug" set?
