system-config-samba?

I admit the old system-config-samba tool looked
very lame, but it was the only non-cryptic way
I ever found to define a samba user for my
Windows systems to connect as.

In that tool, I'd go to Preferences>Samba Users..
then I could associate a unix user name with a
windows user name and specify a password for
windows to use.

I presume I can do the same with the smbpasswd
command line tool, but the man page for it
is utterly cryptic.

Can anyone translate the options for me to
tell me which option means unix user, which
means windows user and how I'll specify the
password?

Or even better, can anyone tell me where in the
blue blazes the password file is stored so I
can copy it from my fedora24 partition to my
fedora25 partition?
