Any reason F25 won't run on it? Other comments? Thanks.
I haven't tried this combination of hardware/software, so no specifics here.
Ultimately, it should run fine, but initially, lack of persistent user
attention to issues such as BIOS containing UEFI may cause frustrating
delays. On-line instructions for accessing BIOS (F2) to adjust it, and
then editing grub command line to add instruction details for booting
may yield success more straightforwardly. Note that many hardware
brands with UEFI, and many Linux distributions, have analogous
situations. Consult details on-line to be prepared for needed
installation changes.
Choices between dual-booting Windows 7 versus Linux-only suggest
attention to hidden partitions for operating system and utilities from Dell.
This unit appears ready for expansion hardware of various types. Next
generation video cards may be attractive. Power supply wattage is
modest, but it's replaceable when necessary. Wireless chicklet keyboard
may not be preferable for long projects or very steady work, but it's
replaceable, too.
i7 processor with multiple cores and threads in simultaneous operation
may reveal application software improvement opportunities in cases where
the software does not (yet) take full advantage of the available
hardware, to the user's disadvantage. LibreOffice, eyes are on you.
