Oh, no disagreement there. I come from a background of a small root filesystem with a correspondingly small /tmp, and everything else (/usr, /var, /home, ...) separate. So it's pretty much a "same old, same old" issue for me. Heck, even a 2GB /tmp is way bigger than what I'm used to running with.
