Did you create a .desktop file in ~/.local/share/applications/ as that
question describes? Once you've done that, it should appear when you
search in the overview, and then you can right-click it and add it to
your favorites, which will be shown on the dash.
Yes I did. I also copied that file in /usr/share/applications.
Unfortunately it never appears anywhere (whether I ALT+F2, r or log out
and back in). So there must be something stupid that I can't figure
out...right? ;-)
Just one question, have you found the desktop file for one of the apps
that does appear in the launcher the way you want your app to appear,
and compared that desktop file to the one for your app to see if there
are any entries in the one that works that aren't in yours?
