Hi, one of the maintainers here ...

This was a change way back in 2012:
https://github.com/rsnapshot/rsnapshot/commit/332872aa5

It certainly sounds like potentially a valid RFE to customise the
date/log format ...

Are you able to open an issue on github to track it? I expect either
someone there will be interested to comment at the least, and
hopefully maybe get the log format customisable or something.
