on my Asus RT-N16 (admittedly now several years old) the recommendation
of its three anennae is the middle one straight up, and the two outer
ones tilted 45 degrees away from the center one so that it looks a
little bit like a W. Not having significant signal strength problems
I've never played around with other orientations.
