"dnf history userinstalled" should list installonly packages, packages installed outside of DNF and packages not installed as dependency - i.e. it lists packages which will not be removed by autoremove DNF command. We can improve the docs. For identifying packages installed as dep there is IMO no other way than looking into yumdb directory - which I would not recommend.
