you have either a system problem or a fedora problem.
thunderbird, itself, does not have a file size limit.
using thunderbird 45.2, my 2 largest backup email files of 207.1 MiB and
235.4 MiB.
in addition, right click folders in thunderbird, select properties,
read the 'sometimes the fold index' message, click 'repair folder'.
No such option.
