I've found that in order for postgresql-upgrade to work, I've needed to remove my specific postgresql.conf customizations such as: ssl = on krb_server_keyfile = 'postgres.keytab' shared_preload_libraries = 'pg_journal' And change the local entry for the postgres user in pg_hba.conf to trust: TYPE DATABASE USER ADDRESS METHOD local all postgres trust Then run $ postgresql-setup --upgrade After the upgrade, I replace the configuration customizations and $ systemctl restart postgresql.service -- Anthony - https://messinet.com/ - https://messinet.com/~amessina/gallery F9B6 560E 68EA 037D 8C3D D1C9 FF31 3BDB D9D8 99B6
