For a while, 10 minutes or so, after boot up and login the switching to tty consoles and back works as it should. I ran and exited Thunderbird, Firefox, Terminals and such during which I switched to a tty console and then back. Now I can get a console login but have no key board. Switching back is hard because there is no visible mouse but eventually I can get to highlight the user selection and log back in.
