Very likely. I just had to delete a bunch of akonadi config things because it wouldn't stop by itself. Not even changing sessions (I use Plasma at times but most of times it's Cinnamon my desktop). I would be very happy if one day KDE developers dump Akonadi altogether and use something else, simpler.
