It's pretty simple: Some weeks after a release goes end of life, the entire release tree for that release is moved to archives. ie, right now Fedora 21 is at: http://dl.fedoraproject.org/pub/fedora/linux/releases/21/ it will be moved to: http://archives.fedoraproject.org/pub/archive/fedora/linux/releases/21/ At that point a number of mirrors that don't carry the archives will no longer have Fedora 21 available at all. Note that we never remove old releases from Mirrormanager, so metalinks and mirrorlists will continue to work and point you to the archive space and those hosts that mirror it. kevin
