Because certain desktop programmers didn't consider it worth their while

Say which desktop you're using. I'm not on F22, yet, but on one of my
PCs I switched to Mate, and it does have a basic slideshow screensaver.
I'm still using KDE.
I've found the settings page for xscreensaver and it includes the ability to
set a top directory for images but there seems to be no way of selecting that
as the default saver.
