Thank you for this answer; I did not know this xconf-query command, but there is still a problem: when I log-in, the numlock led is on for a few seconds then it stops and I have to re-activate it manually... I don't know what switches it off.... No message in .xsession-errors is given and I don't know where to find any information on what is going wrong...
