Does work for me. Perhaps it is a feature of the site you are visting?
It doesn't work when the text cursor is in a GTK text area. It will,
otherwise. Ctrl+J will move to the search box regardless, but that's
inconsistent with Thunderbird and Chrome, and with older GTK2 Firefox
releases (using the default keybindings, anyway)
