How about 9 or 0, do they work?
I retried mplayer as a stanadlone command,
rather than in a script like:
for f in *.mp4 *.mp3; do
mplayer "$f"
done
For me, running it from a script like above, then * and / do not work,
but invoking mplayer on one file at a time it works.
