Would anyone have advice on how to install all of the remaining necessary

Fedora Workstation implies GNOME, so there isn't a separate group.
I have a quite old i686 laptop circa 2003. GNOME 3.15.90 (Fedora 22)
walks rather than run. It's not usable for production purposes, I'd
probably use xfce or lxde for that, but it makes a decent test server.
I'd guess it was around Fedora 14/15 that this laptop usably ran
GNOME.
I agree that GNOME is a bit of a load for an older CPU. It's just that I'm
some combination of compulsive/risk-averse: I'd like to one system
functioning completely, before I start moving the other two forward to
F21.
I did try yum groupinstall "MATE Desktop"
and that DE works successfully.
However, yum groupinstall "Fedora Workstation" installs nothing (assuming
that there is nothing additional to install). Neither Gnome, nor Gnome
Classic work correctly (in the former case, there is an error screen; in
the latter, there is fragmented image of a DE).
Nevertheless, much thanks for your help and advice.
