I like that. If you don't know enough Linux to use those tools (or how to read and understand whatever help they give) you probably don't know enough about the potential consequences of what you want to do. That would be an excellent pons asinorum that would weed out most of the users who have overestimated their own knowledge and skills. I presume that the GUI already has sanity checks that make sure that you don't put directories that must be on the root filesystem for booting onto separate partitions, and those would still apply.
