Why do you still use wrong syntax?

NOT: //192.168.1.48:/myshare

BUT: //192.168.1.48/myshare

It is still not mounted and /var/log/messages shows:

Ok, it looks like that may be the correct syntax then, after removing the colon ":" and rebooting it still does not mount but the error is now complaining about the password!

Can I put the password in fstab and if so how? The password to mount samba is different than for the server that does mount.

So I changed the line to:

//192.168.1.48/myshare/    /mnt/box48/    cifs defaults  0 0

Rebooted again and then the boot process stops and asks for the root password for 192.168.1.48/myshare.

I tried both passwords although I think it wants the samba password since that is what I use to mount it manually from the command line.

Once a password is entered the boot process proceeds normally and I enter the usual password required by Fedora21 and the desk top opens.

But the CIFS server is not mounted!

From the fstab man page, I'm not sure if "nouser" means no particular user is specified or no user can mount? But "nouser" is part of the "defaults" apparently and that works with the NFS server.
