OK, considering the lsusb output that looks like RT5370 reference design.
What is whispered in the corridors, rt2800usb is not the fastest module.
You can try your luck with 
http://www.mediatek.com/en/downloads/rt8070-rt3070-rt3370-rt3572-rt5370-rt5372-rt5572-usb-usb
or
https://github.com/alangalvino/rt5370sta
But it'll probably need a patch for the latest kernels.
