Has anyone used this? I will be using it to test the impact of
using randomized local MAC addresses. I would like to have a Gnome
widget that I can just click on and run this.
No, but I am interested in using random mac addresses for wireless.
(For wired mac addresses I usally set to something other than what is
on the hardware, but don't constantly change it.)
I just do it as a script when I boot:

That is a start. For ethernet interfaces, you should also send a DHCP
release on poweroff. You have a script for that?
But if you actively move around between boots, you may want to do this
more regularly. For example you are on a university campus and moving
from AP to AP. You might want to change MAC addresses for each AP
ASSOCIATE so that your campus movements cannot be tracked.
