ONPARENT=yes is indeed the parameter instead of ONBOOT for aliases. It would not matter here, as "yes" is the default value. As far as I am aware the suggestion from Tom Horsley with things like IPADDR2, NETMASK2 in the file of the parent is cuurently the preferred method.
