    I thought the downloaded file was called
    google-earth-stable_current_x86_64.rpm.....

    
    Anyway, the way I've gotten this to work is to use "rpmrebuild".

    
    rpmrebuild -ep google-earth-stable_current_x86_64.rpm

    
    When "vi" comes up find the line....

    
    %dir %attr(0755, root, root) "/usr/bin"

    
    And then delete it and :wq! followed by "y" and a new rpm will be
    written out for you to used.
