Have you configured your server to service Windows clients?  More than likely, it is doing discovery on the network.

In any event, maybe this will be a clue?  (use the appropriate name for -L)

Ok Ed, that gives me something to investigate, I did enable cifs, don't understand how it works but ...

The important thing to me is that the OSX computers can access that.
