Throw in scripting and advertising, and it makes for a difficult-to-do-quickly webpage. Also, and I haven't seen any other message address this, have you turned off the "smooth scrolling" feature of Firefox? It deliberately slows down scrolling of pages, to try and do it in a smoother fashion.
