try this, when you have firefox window open you have _2_built-in_
options to open another window;
1- <ctrl+n>
2- <alt+f><n>

The problem is that the process doesn't quit when I kill the window (hit the "x" on the upper right edge of the frame -- which it used to do). Instead, I have to choose File->Quit from the Firefox menu. The process should die when I kill the window. I don't want to start a second instantiation or open a second window. I want the program to stop when kill the window, so that when I start the program a day later it doesn't crash because of a process that is no longer attached to an existing window.
