However, if you're looking for a way to manage configurations/packages and updates, I'd look at Puppet or CFEngine. I'm rather partial to CFEngine, but I've used Puppet in the past. I use it primarily for keeping all my systems up to date with latest patches and making sure the system is state is consistent.
