One of my questions is, is it better to use the NVidia drivers from NVidia (eg NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-331.49.run I believe these are the latest for this card) or use the kmod/akmod and related nvidia packages from rpmfusion? And would having the latter packages on the machine cause any conflicts? Sorry for what might appear to be rather silly questions, but I am more a command-line guy, and when running into X issues, debugging is rather difficult at times.
The rpmfusion packages are simply a repackaging of the binary blobs. If you use them, you install them and let them be upgraded at about the same time the kernel is; essentially, they're "fire and forget." If you use the binary blob, you're going to have to boot to a CLI and reinstall them every time the kernel updates. Your choice.
