  oh, i'll get there eventually, i'm just looking for confirmation
that the stuff i'm reading *now* isn't out of date. particularly,
would lennart's multi-part series at 0pointer.de still be perfectly
relevant? is there a better online tutorial at this point? that sort
of thing.
