Often I find myself trying to help a friend with their technical problem remotely. It really helps when more information is available. This is why I think just saying "a regular user won't need this" is wrong. I would say it is actually even more important for regular users to have sensible defaults so that when things do go wrong (which we all know will happen at some point), an expert has all the information to resolve it. Anyway, I guess this discussion is moot; as Rahul says, the decision is made. I have used Fedora for a while now, and I will keep on using it for the foreseeable future; but lately I've been less and less likely to recommend it to others, even to tech-savvy persons.
