simple-mtpfs seems to work pretty well for me.

Try simple-mtpfs on a small memory machine in conjunction with a big SD-Card on Android.

This is what I was facing with f18:

I haven't tried with F19, yet, but the f18 issue clearly disqualifies simple-mtpfs from being taken serious to me.
