Does not happen here.  I am running the same kernel.  Must be hardware specific.

Yup. Hardware specific. Only some machines are affected. Bet it's the video card.

Bad: GeForce GTX 285
Good: Quadro 1000M

Before anyone says anything, both are running nouveau. No binary blobs here.
