* you need the GCC compiler and friends
* the kernel modules must match the installed kernel
generally you should avoid upgrade too soon to new
fedora leases if you rely on kernel-dependent modules
like vmware, vbox or hardware-drivers not shipped with
Fedora

That must be it! Looks like I need to boot from an earlier Kernel. Will
try that.
