OK I fixed it by adding this:
mkdir -p %{buildroot}%{_unitdir}/
before copying the service file.
It's always the most obvious and daft things!
Glad you found the solution. You might want to use install instead of cp however and if you are interested in packaging this officially for Fedora, please post the full spec for review. Thanks
