There's Wine -- but I find it a whole lot easier to run Windows XP under
VirtualBox for my occasional Windows needs.

Same here.  Wine is OK for some stuff, but it has almost always seemed more trouble than it's worth when you can pop up a window with a real Windows OS using Virtualbox and have it work right.  My opinion might change if I have to abandon XP as the virtual Windows OS, though  -- I've heard there were issues with Win 8 on Virtualbox in linux, but I haven't tried it myself.
