update. Experience over the years has shown (for me) that updating is more
prone to cause various trouble..

In my small way I agree.
With a fresh install I had several problems getting postgresql to install fresh but it did, and works. It does not work at all on my updated Fedora box, after a day messing around I had to revert to slite3 for development work in Rails 4.
