What says:

cat /etc/fedora-release

rpm -q fedora-release

If these still say F18 (Sperical Cow), then something else is wrong.

This says it updated the bootloader.  I wonder which bootloader it
updated.  Do you have an entry for Schrödinger's Cat?  Do you have an
entry for FedUp completion?  Have you looked at your
/boot/grub2/grub.cfg file for anything?  Is it the same as your Ubuntu grub?

This may very well be a reflection that Fedora doesn't directly support
booting through Ubuntu's grub....
