If you don't have an mdadm.conf, the device naming starts from /dev/md127 and works backwards. The livecd won't have you mdadm.conf file so you will get a name similar to this. Note that it won't necessarily be the same very boot, so be sure to check the name each boot.

If you just lost one device from a raid 1 array, you should be able to boot your system normally and hot add the array. You don't to boot off a rescue image in that case.
