If I do "less syslog.txt | grep DST=17." I get a mixture of outputs containing "17."

I would like to do "less syslog.txt | grep 17.0.0.0 - 17.255.255.255" or "less syslog.txt | grep DST=17.0.0.0/8" but I can't find the correct incantation. The man page doesn't seem to tell me how, at least not in a way that I can understand ...

Can someone tell me how?
