I just went to locate the file and couldn't it simply does not exist updatedb and locate are your friend [root@srv-rhsoft:~]$ locate cron | grep allow /etc/cron.allow but it does NOT matter for /etc/crontab or /etc/cron.d it conrols which users are allowed to create cron-entries
